Trøndelag news: Arbeiderpartiet is once again the largest party in Trondheim

A poll conducted by Norstat for NRK and Adresseavisen places Arbeiderpartiet at the top of the parties in Trondheim (NRK Trøndelag / Trondheim). The party had held the mayor's seat in the city for 20 years before Kent Ranum and Høyre took over the city hall in 2023. That year, Høyre had become the largest party in the city with 29.2 per cent of the votes. The new opinion measurement is compared with the 2023 local election result.

"It was very pleasant and nice to hear, and it shows that we are on the right track," says Jørn Arve Flått of Trondheim Arbeiderparti (NRK Trøndelag / Trondheim). He offers several explanations for the poll result. "We see that there has been a lot of disorder and chaos on the city council that runs the city today, which is affecting Høyre. At the same time, Frp is making strong progress nationally, and it is also benefiting from that in Trondheim," he continues.

For Trøndelag county, this opinion measurement comes at the halfway point of the term and covers only the city of Trondheim, NRK points out (NRK Trøndelag / Trondheim). It confirms a national momentum favourable to Frp, which is being reflected in local polls.

Fuel: Dieselbrølet promises new actions

The Dieselbrølet collective, which demonstrated on the E6 last weekend, is announcing a new action in Oslo on 2 October, aimed at putting pressure on policymakers to lower fuel prices (NRK Trøndelag / Trondheim).

"Something has to change soon. If this continues, I won't be able to clear snow this winter. I'll have to go bankrupt instead," says Jan-Erik Rafoss, leader of the protest group and a self-employed worker (NRK Trøndelag / Trondheim). He says he has to shell out 200,000 kroner extra per month for his asphalting work. "We have a contract with the state and the fylkeskommune, but since the contract is locked in and not adjusted for the price increase, I have to take that out of my own profit," he explains.

A new slow-driving operation is also planned for Friday afternoon on the E18, between Arendal and Lillesand, according to NRK (NRK Trøndelag / Trondheim).
